Filakto
Filakto is a Greek word referring to something that keeps you safe by chasing away the evil. It is a small religious cloth pouch pinned to the clothes of a baby on the upper left shoulderblade. Sometimes the mother also pins a cross and/or the "mati" to the baby alongside the filakto. The filakto is a blessed fabric - filled with dried flowers from the Epitafio of Holy Friday and pieces of the Holy Altar vestments and Priest vestments.
