About the Wedding Tray: Wedding trays - also known as wedding diskoi (greek -δίσκος γάμου) - are used in the Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony. They are set at a table in front of the altar at the church. The wedding crowns (Stefan) are placed on the tray until used in the service. Traditionally, jordan almonds are scattered on the tray with the crowns for aesthetic presentation purposes. Oftentimes, the koumbaro(a) - wedding sponsor - gifts the wedding tray to the marrying couple.
