Orthodox Bishop’s Throne – Hand-Carved of Linden Wood with Ornamental Backing (Style 441)
This majestic Orthodox Bishop’s Throne, also known as the Parathrone, is handcrafted from solid linden wood and designed in the traditional Byzantine style of ecclesiastical woodcarving. The pedestal is made of MDF wood. The throne features intricate floral and vine motifs, crowned with a traditional double-headed eagle at the top—symbolizing the spiritual and temporal authority of the Church.
At the center of the backrest is a beautifully rendered icon of Christ the Great High Priest, framed by elaborate openwork carving that reflects centuries-old Orthodox artistic tradition. The throne is complemented by turned arm supports, finely detailed side panels, and a raised platform with steps, emphasizing dignity, reverence, and presence within the holy space.
The seat and back are upholstered in rich red velvet, providing both comfort and a regal visual contrast to the warm natural wood tones. Ideal for cathedrals, monasteries, and parish churches, this throne is designed to serve as a focal point in the sanctuary or nave.
