The fustanella is a traditional pleated skirt worn by men in Greece. It is made from strips of linen sewn together. The fustanella is worn for military and ceremonial occasions, and is a symbol of Greek masculinity. It represents strength, courage, and endurance, which are highly valued in Greek culture.
Foustanella (φουστανέλα), a cotton kilt made from 30 meters (98 feet) of white cloth, with supposedly 400 pleats (πιέτες) representing the 400 years of Ottoman occupation. The foustanella derives from the traditional uniform of Continental Greece.
