Clergy Items - Crosses

An Orthodox pectoral cross is a cross worn around the neck and resting on the chest (pectoralis = Latin for "chest") by priests and higher clergy (bishops, archimandrites, etc.)in the Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholic traditions. It signifies the sacred responsibility of the clergy to "take up the cross" and follow Christ in service. It's a visible sign of ordination and pastoral office.
